Nodding Daffodils

These small daffodils (a mere 8-inches tall and the same ones from this photo), with their nodding heads, are difficult to photograph without laying down on the (wet) ground and shooting upwards, making it a challenge to capture their pretty little yellow faces.

Still, it wouldn't be Monday without Monday Mellow Yellows.  Check out the photos featuring the color yellow from photographers all around the world.

Spring Has Sprung on the North Coast

Last week I spent 8 days with my youngest sister in her home in still-very-cold-freezing-snowy Colorado, which, by the way, was a wonderful visit full of walks, talks, and adventures,
and when I returned home I was greeted by this...

Spring!

Yes, in my absence spring had sprung.

Not only had these flowers bloomed, but the bees were out buzzing around,
and the grass had grown so high that already I have to mow the lawns.

If only it would stop raining long enough for me to get to it.

I hope the flowers bloom soon in your garden.

Duo of Daffodil Buds

My mother called them daffy-down-dillys.

Funny how I think of her at the oddest times.

I'm working on a vegetable garden update; hopefully by the weekend.

Of Daffodils and Goats . . .

I was up early last Saturday morning taking photos of the dew-laden daffodils that each spring beautify an otherwise ugly black plastic pot on my back deck.

Then we went off to shop the first farmers market of the season - Yay!  (Photos coming.)

When we returned home we were greeted by this:

Courtesy of our neighbor's goat.  A not unfriendly, perfectly nice goat that shouldn't be able to walk into our yard at will, but seems to do so anyway.

Here are a few more photos from early last week:

I really hope that goat got a bellyache.

Late Winter in my Garden - Mini-Daffodils

Mini-daffodils are among the first bulbs to bloom in my garden as winter wanes.

They grow to be about 5-inches tall, barely clearing the top of the large pot they are planted in.

I have to keep chicken wire over them (you can see it in the background) because the chickens love to see if the petals are edible.  You'd think they learn.  But nooo - they're chickens.

March in the Garden - Apricot Daffodils

Look at what happens when the sun comes out for a few days

I'll be away over the weekend and won't be able to wish you all a Glorious Spring Equinox, so I'm saying it early.

Happy spring gardening!

Hello Sunshine

Daffs have such a wonderful way of letting us know that spring is not far off. Twenty days and counting . . .

Apricot Double Daffodil

Came upon this rather elegant lady while taking a walk yesterday evening. Pretty, isn't she?

Daffodils for Erika

From spring to spring I try to get the perfect shot of these lovelies. Their placement is not without challenge, being close to a long and strappy plant that always seems to intrude on the background and being only 8-inches tall themselves. I try to get the perfect shot for Erika. So, my friend, how's this one?

Spring Garden Series #3 - Three Sisters Daffodils

Aren't they just stunning? Could the sky be more blue? Could a photo be more perfect? Well ... probably, but this comes awfully close.

Spring Garden Series #2 - More Narcissus

Not the same as these early bloomers, the above beauties are blooming now. I never tire of photographing them and never, ever tire of their scent.
