The Japanese Anemones are blooming and that means summer soon will give way to autumn (are we really ready for this?) and before we know it another year will come to a close.

But before I get too maudlin about it, going through some old posts reminds me of all the wonderful treasures each season brings.

Summer in my Garden - Baby Swallows

I took these photos at the beginning of last week, when the parents were frantically feeding these hungry babies as they were getting ready to fledge.
The next day, sure enough, they began to fly, always returning to the nest and demanding to be fed by late afternoon.
The next day they were off again, flying further and further but always returning to a post near their nest to rest for a bit.
The next day they were gone.
Another successful launch.
I was so proud, you'd think I had something to do with it!

Summer in my Garden - Graham Thomas Rose

It wasn't until my dear friend Erika commented that she hadn't seen any new photos on this blog that I realized how negligent I've been.  We returned from Portland and I immediately went into work mode, both in my office and on the grounds. (You would be amazed at how long blackberry canes can grow in 2 short weeks.)

Today Mr. Graham Thomas bloomed and released that heavenly, but very manly, scent for which he is so well known.  Scratch 'n' sniff monitors - has anyone invented one yet?

July in My Garden - Day Lilies

The day lilies are beginning to bloom in my garden. I particularly like this one with its ruffled edges.

This one, with its iridescent petals and long-reaching stamens, lives near a messy part of the yard, as you can see in the background.  I must get that cleaned up this summer.

I hope to get one more post up before I take off for Portland where I won't have my computer. But I will have Portland!  I'll check up on y'all when I can.
