Shadows In the Woods

It was tough finding a good shadow shot this morning with our watery sun trying to peek through the clouds and fog. I tried many shots of different areas around the gardens and then looked here just as the sun pierced both the clouds and the forest to reveal - this.

Still Life With Shadows

The sun was shouting its last and most glorious hurrah of the day just before slipping below the horizon when it bathed the corner of the living room, already a study in reds, in a rosy-golden light that cast deep black shadows on the wall.

Not many shadows at Raven Ridge Gardens these days, or, if there were, I missed them while being struck down this past week with some kind of bug (I'm all better now).

In searching my photo archives to see what shadow photos lurk there, I found this: A throwback all the way to 2010. I kind of like it.

Shadow Shot Sunday 2: Water Droplets on Crocosmia

Most of the strappy leaves of this deer-nibbled Crocosmia were in deep shadow as I walked by looking for photo shots. But the low angle of the afternoon sun made sparkling stars in the water drops and cast a multitude of tiny shadows on the leaf, which immediately caught my eye. As I often say, ya takes yer shadows when ya find 'em, or something of that nature.

What began as a very cloudy, drizzly day turned into glorious sunshine this afternoon, prompting me to get out with my camera to find a few shadow shots. I chose this one for its deep forest shadows and sun-dappled ferns.
