June in My Garden - Tiger Lily for Fathers Day

Tiger Lily (Lilium colombianum) was hiding in deep shade as I prowled around my garden this morning. What a treat to come across it unexpectedly.

More are on the way ...

Happy Fathers Day to fathers remembered, fathers present, and fathers-to-be.

Spring in My Garden - Wood Hyacinth

Wood Hyacinth, also known as Spanish Bluebell and hyacinthoides hispanica. Whatever name you wish to call them, they are soft and lovely and beginning to bloom in my garden on this first day of Spring.

Happy Spring to all you gardeners and garden lovers out there!

Autumn In The Garden #4 - Lycoris

This lily is such a pretty thing, blooming now on my back deck. I'm always surprised that it comes up each year, as it simply appears without preamble of leaves.
This was taken with the flash at the same time of day. What a difference.

Sweet Stargazers

Not actually gazing at stars this year, something has attacked my poor lily and crippled it slightly. Despite the handicap, it put out a beautifully noble effort. If you've never smelled a Stargazer, you're missing out on something heavenly.

The Stargazer Lily was hybridized by local lily breeder, Mr. Leslie Woodriff, about whom one can read in local writer Amy Stewart's New York Times best selling new book, Flower Confidential.
