They don't happen very often but are a sight to behold when they do appear. This photo was taken toward the west off my back deck; the just-rising sun was still below the tree line behind me but high enough to cast its glow on the far redwoods.
I could see the faint nuance of colors in the bow, but my camera didn't show them until I upped the saturation in PS. Never encountered a fogbow? Here is a nice link from Hyperphysics that explains them.
