Ruby Tuesday - Ruby Red Mystery Flowers

I've lost the tag to this plant and can't for the life of me remember its name. Can anybody help?

[Ed. note: Found it!
Leycesteria formosa gold leaf. Common names: Himalayan Honeysuckle; Pheasant Berry.]

Check out more ruby red photos this Tuesday and every Tuesday on Mary's blog, Work of the Poet.

I have no idea what they are, but, gosh, they are pretty. Love the color and the petal shapes. Are they perennials and are they hardy and easy to grow? Those things are at the top of my list of desirable flowers. Mickie :)

Wow they're beautiful. I don't garden any more -- just admire other people's work! And I love looking at yours. But I'm no help at all.

When I can't identify a plant, I begin by ruling out the things it isn't. It isn't a fuchsia. It may not be of the clerodendrum family. Look closely at the leaves to see if they resemble anything else. Is the stem round or square? What do the leaves smell like? Is the flower fragrant? What is the growth habit?

Regardless, it is beautiful in bloom.

Christine girl thank you for dropping by my place especially when I keep forgetting to visit you (red faced) Now for your plant .. it reminds me of my "southern bush honeysuckle" the leaf structure and colour are similar .. but my flowers are yellow .. BUT ! almost the same structure too .. so it is a conundrum that your flowers are red ! and gorgeous : )
That is my best shot girl .. it is a gorgeous plant no matter what it is !!

Thanks so much, Joy. I'm off to see what southern bush honeysuckle looks like - it's a new one to me.
And no need to be red-faced, girl. There are many times that I neglect my blogger friends and then have to catch up. Life is busy!

I found the name of this plant! It's Leycesteria - formosa gold leaf, or golden lantern. Commonly known as Pheasant Berry and/or Himalayan Honeysuckle (Joy, you weren't far off!)
