Fledglings

Barn Swallows and Violet-Greens arrive in early spring and spend summers here building nests and raising young. Two days after this photo was taken, these Barn Swallow youngsters fledged. The cats were made to stay inside until I knew the birds would be safely flitting about the sky.

Ohhhh! How adorable! I recently bought some bird food to feed the birds I see in the street. They look hungry to me. I hope I got the right bird food (well they were only selling one type). The bag label read, "Wild Birds Food." Something like that. What's the difference between "wild birds" and "NYC pigeons" and tiny brown birds. I have no idea what they are....
