When I took this photo while out on a walk several weeks ago, I was sure it was a variety of hibiscus but I have not been able to find one like it in any of my searches.
The petals, as one can see, are quite reticulated. If it is hibiscus, I'm pretty sure it's a hardy perennial type, not the tropical variety.
If anyone knows what this is, I would love for you to let me know in the comments.

Exquisite flower and color and a great capture, Christine, as always! My first guess was hibiscus, but I'm really not very knowledgeable about flowers -- just know that I love a beautiful one and this one is! Hope you have a lovely weekend! Enjoy!
It does look like some kind of hibiscus, but who knows for sure. Whatever it is, it is definitely a lovely color. The clarity of your shot is great. Have a terrific weekend. Mickie :)
Oh wow! How extra special-looking! Love it!
I don't know what it is, but I like it.
Still haven't found a source yet but am sure it's hibiscus. And I can't believe I spelled walk with two Ls.
Mystery flowers can drive us a little nuts eh ? It is so beautiful what ever it is .. growing directly in your garden or outside it ?
My neighbor has a hibiscus TREE against our grape arbor and it is so tall I am shocked .. I didn't think they got that tall in our zone!
Plants can always surprise us : )
