Ruby Tuesday - Geum

Geum is a sweet little perennial that pops up in my garden every spring, showing off its ruffled red petals and yellow stamens.  Thankfully the chickens leave it in peace allowing it to bloom for several weeks.  It's a nice punctuation to the softer colors that prevail this time of year. I believe this specimen is called "Mrs. Bradshaw". Another showy Geum is "Red Dragon".  Both would be a great addition to a perennial flower bed.

There are more ruby red photos to delight you and inspire you over at Mary's blog Work of the Poet.

Yes, I'm a happy grandmother--she is a sweetheart. Lovely little red flowers-geum--I've never heard of them, but they are quite pretty. Spring is just full of luscious, bright colors--makes for a beautiful world. Mickie :)

Christine these are gorgeous geums!
I have "Flames of Passion" and they are very red as well .. I have had the standard orange kind in my garden for ages .. paired with violet blue sage/salvia and when they are almost in sync it really has a wow factor with that combo !
Great shots girl : )
