Summer In The Garden #4 - Water Droplets on Crocosmia
Pin It
It was foggy and drippy until just before I snapped this photo.
When the sun came out and made the water droplets sparkle.

San Francisco's Moraga Steps
Pin It
Straight as an arrow from the top of these steps at 15th Avenue, Moraga heads swiftly west to the Pacific Ocean stopping briefly at 19th to skirt the historic Shriner's hospital complex. From the view here at the top, it seems you could just jump over it and continue your breakneck journey through the Sunset District and across the Great Highway until the pounding surf arrests your flight.
That is if, when you reach the bottom of the steps, you do not look back. For if you looked behind you, back up the steps, the vision before your eyes would surely stop you in your tracks.
Scroll back up to the top photo. Then scroll back down. Amazing, isn't it? Amazing and beautiful. You can click here to read the story behind this work of art, but don't forget to come back and enjoy the rest of the photos.
Here we go on a photo excursion from the bottom to the top. Do stop along the way to click on the photos for larger, more detailed images.

Sulphur Butterfly Chrysalis
Pin It
Attached to the side of the greenhouse by what looks to be one very slender thread, I believe this is the chrysalis of a Sulphur Butterfly. It stands to reason given this. I'm hoping to catch it hatching in a few more days.

Honeybees and Poppy Seeds
Pin It
Honey bees. We've been bemoaning the loss of honey bees in the garden for several years now. When the poppies started sprouting up every where this spring, I left them alone even though I wanted to spread the compost pile in which they were growing throughout the garden. I'm so glad I didn't. Honey bees are here in full force. A little wild, a little agressive, but I give them a wide berth and we get along just fine.
Pollen depleted
Visions of poppyseed cake!
Do click on the bee photo to get a close up. One is in flight. Lucky me.
