Anne, A 'doozie' means something spectacular or a bigger than usual event. "something that is extraordinary or outstanding of its kind: The storm was a doozie, with winds of fifty miles an hour." From Dictionary.com.
It may have originated with the production of the Duesenberg automobile way back in the 1920, called a Doozie.
