Lichen, the gray-green , and moss, the darker, lime green, are growing on the top of an old redwood fence post. You can see just how small they are in relation to the nail head.

Do you know the "lichen" story? It goes:
Alice algae and Fred fungi met and took a "lichen" to each other. But I don't know if you've heard or not--their marriage is on the rocks!
