November has got to be Cosmos' swan song month. I can't imagine how they keep up their valiant blooming with the wet, cold weather we're having. Enjoy. They'll be back next year. Heck, I may even plant a few more varieties, these have done so well.

Today's Flowers: Passiflora purpurea
Pin It
I often photograph this flower, whose vine encircles a wire wreath outside my front door, not only because it's beautiful, but also because I'm never quite satisfied with the outcome. I am more satisfied with this photo than previous ones. Click on it to see the closeup.
Then check out the beautiful flowers that appear each Mondays at Today's Flowers; they are varied and wonderful.

Barely 2 1/2-inches across, this Japanese Maple leaf cast a fairly formidable shadow on my front steps today.
This is my first entry for Shadow Shot Sunday, a photography event at home at Hey Harriet's blog. My blogger friend, Paz has been nudging me to join in so now I have and I'm looking forward to "meeting" everyone who posts their shadow photos for this event. Thanks Paz!

Hens And Chicks
Pin It
After shopping at the farmers market on Saturday mornings, Mr CC and I will often take a walk. Last Saturday was no exception even though it was threatening rain. When we happened upon a garden in full bloom, two photos from which I've already posted, I spent quite a long happy while shooting.
These are commonly called Hens and Chicks. Their botanical name is Sempervivum, which means forever living. You can see the many varieties available by clicking here. Their leaves are full of water from the rain. Click the photos for more detail.
